One of the key aspects of coaching is the ability to get the clients to see through a different perspective – themselves, their goals, their relationships, their lives. Very often, just being able to help them appreciate and acknowledge what they have and shifting the focus from what they do not have or what they really want, helps in bringing about lightness in their lives.
It is the ‘now’ that we often miss out on the most, often spending time in our past, which is long gone and best forgotten or in our future, which is uncertain and not in plain sight.
Being able to help the clients see their lives with gratitude, every aspect of it, very often helps them in appreciating that happiness lies in the present moment.
Sieze the moment. Live each day. Unleash the power of now in your life and in the lives of others you touch.

Thanks for the great reminder about the connection between gratitude and the power of now!
I agree that living your life with gratitude helps us to be happy and enjoy the moment of now more readily! Thank you for sharing your insight.
Your words are so spot on, Namrata. We miss so much by clinging to the past or losing ourselves in the future. Thank you for this powerful reminder.
Carpe diem! The concept has been out there for ever, and yet we struggle to accept that this is the way to live a happy life. Thanks for the reminder.
Gratitude is so important! Thank you for this post!
Your point of the past or future vs the present is a great one that we often forget. It is easy to live outside of our life by going back or looking forward always.
My boys and I have a moment of gratitude at supper every night. Helps us to focus on the little things (like the Lego factory workers, potato farmers, the clerk at the bookstore) that we might otherwise forget in our busy days!
What a lovely ritual, Esme! It only reinforces the fact that children develop the habits that they see adults exhibiting. Thanks for sharing this!
Namrata – capturing gratitude is such a powerful way to stay in the now. Thank you for the reminder!
Indeed, Louise! One of ICA’s alumni, Malti Bhojwani, has in fact, authored a book called Thankfulness, Appreciation and Gratitude – you might consider taking a look.
